Buford

Hope all is well. I posted a short blog. Here are a couple pictures we took of Bu last night. He is almost 4 months old now.

Arrrrww! Hello! Sorry it's taken us a while. Buford learned to shake today, in very few minutes actually. We bought these new treats with real bone marrow and they are a huge hit. He will do anything for them. Highly recommended. Here are some new pictures. Hope you enjoy. Talk to you soon,

Kim & John

This is Buford. He was born somewhere around December 1, 2007 in Orlando, FL. His mother was a black lab and his father an English mastiff. We are not positive whether or not his mother was a purebred lab but his father was definitely all mastiff. We adopted him from our local SPCA where he and all his siblings and parents were dropped off. He was the only one left when we arrived. These picture were from his first week with us (we have has him for about 1 1/2 months). He has more than tripled in size since these were taken but I didn't have any recent photos. He was just 8.25 lbs and 8 weeks old when we got him and he is now over 25 lbs at 14 weeks.
Buford appears to have the shape and body type of a lab. However, his wrinkly forehead, brown undertones and huge paws point more towards a mastiff. His ribcage is also gigantic is relation to the rest of him. He seems to get along well with people as well as dogs. He wants to chase everything that goes by (dogs, cars, bikes, people, blowing leaves) and tries to put every new object in his mouth. So basically he is a typical puppy. He is very friendly and I have never seen his show and type of aggression towards anyone.
He is also very smart for such a young dog. He learned how to sit in 2 days, is coming along very well in the potty training, and recently learned how to climb up and down the stairs. At times he has a lot of energy like a lab but he can tend to be somewhat lazy. During walks he sometimes lays down to take a nap in the grass. My finance and I like to take him out to open fields around my house and let him run leash-free. He really seems to enjoy that. He also likes to play fetch although he doesn't care for the part where he has to give the object back to be thrown again. We are currently working on training him to nudge a bell when he needs to go outside to potty and we plan on getting his into training classes at Petsmart. I will send some more recent pictures of Buford as we take them.
